Röbert is home

I decided to stop by and surprise Röbert at work today.  He didn’t expect to see me, but took me out to lunch!  He loves me so much!

See, nothing out of the ordinary. He just goes to work every day like a normal husband!

After his playgroup I decided to take Hummus out of his stroller and play with him for a little while.  He seemed very happy to have some Mommy time.  He wouldn’t stand up for me again though, so I put him down for a nap.

Happy baby!

Starling has been kind of whiney all week, which is so unlike her!  She keeps complaining about being itchy, and her head feels weird.  Who knows where kids come up with this stuff?

Maybe her new sweater is making her itch?

What Else is New?

Karen Sullivan’s dog Beefeater is still missing.  I can hear her all over the neighborhood calling for him every evening and she keeps replacing the flyers that she has hung up all over town, because they seem to disappear every single day.  I would feel bad for her if she wasn’t such a bitch.

I was meeting up with some of my REAL friends in town today and my hair looked especially lovely, so I took a quick photo.  I passed Karen in her yard as I was pulling out of my driveway and I pretended I hadn’t seen her.  That sure showed her!

I look so great here!

When I got home I set up my new office!  I am using what used to be a play area for the children to get my work done.  It always looked so cluttered before and now I have hung some beautiful artwork and it looks absolutely zen!

No IKEA art for me!

After school guess who I found painting?  Merlin!  Can you believe it?  Those art supplies belong to Starling, but she said he had asked her.  She is such a generous and giving human being.  Of course I told him he needed to put them away before he sloshed paint everywhere!  What could he have been thinking?

That painting is such a mess! Is that the work of a genius?

I think it is early to bed for the kids tonight so I can have a date with my hubby and a bottle of wine, LOL.

Have great weekend everyone.

Summer Fun

It really seems as if we’ve gotten into the groove this week!  Röbert was being a real grouch over the weekend and said that I needed to be careful with money because, oh who knows?  But he was pretty firm about me not spending anything.  Of course I cried but he was still all cranky about everything.  Ugh.  Men!

He does look cute in his weekend casual though!

So at least I had Starling signed up for this WONDERFUL camp this week.  It is very expensive, but I paid for it in May (it fills up very quickly) so it really doesn’t count.  I also was able to get Hummus signed up for a week at the playgroup (shhh!  It didn’t cost that much!)  but they wouldn’t take Merlin.  He is several years older than the other children, but I think she would have taken him if he wasn’t such a handful.  What a burden he can be.

Starling came home on Monday just full of the fun she had had.  She immediately wanted to show me a puppet show she had made up.  She is very creative and always coming up with the most interesting ideas.  She is also very popular.  Some creepy little girl she doesn’t even know was following her all over the place at camp but she put her in her place!  That’s my girl!

I had made all sorts of plans which were ruined by having Merlin home.  He is very mature for his age though, so I was able to sneak out for shopping (I found the absolute most darling handbag!) and had lunch with the girls from book club on Monday.  Tuesday I left him in the car while I ran in for pilates and spin classes and a sauna at the gym.  This afternoon, when I got home from the nail salon he actually told me that he was bored!  He wanted me to unlock the television.  He had the nerve to complain that my new “minimalist” theme in his room means he has nothing to play with.  Next thing he will be asking me for video games which I do NOT believe in and he will never get!

Of course, as usual, I had a great idea for keeping him entertained.  What little boy doesn’t love a photo shoot?  We started by letting him take a few of me at home, but the quality wasn’t as good as I need.

So we drove a couple of hours to a field of lavender and I spent 3 hours taking pictures of myself with my little remote I bought the other day (love it!).  I even got one of us together.

I had forgotten he is allergic to lavender so I had to give him some Benadryl and he slept the whole way home.  Boredom cured!

The one bit of family bad news is that Röbert cancelled our family week at the beach for next week.  Something about money.  Ugh!  The children are very disappointed but we will have plenty of fun at home!  I think I will tell them we are going to Disney at Christmas to cheer them up.  By then Röbert will hopefully have figured out how to make more money because this not having enough is for the birds!

Picnic Time!

Now that June is here it seems like we should always be picnicking!  Our neighbors, the Sullivans, invited the whole gang over for a picnic tonight.  I was asked to bring dessert, and i knew right away what to bring!  Watermelon!  But before Hummus and I could go shopping, I needed to clean the house.  So I put on my favorite caftan, and off to clean the upstairs.  A mother’s work is NEVER done.

Hummus and I tried to go to the new market, but they close midday for “Siesta” so we went to the local supermarket to get the watermelon. Can you see  how sleepy he looks?

We got home just in time to greet the older kids as they arrived home from school.  I sliced my watermelon and ran upstairs for a quick bath while Hummus napped.  I heard some squawking from the sun room, where I had left the watermelon out, and guess who had “borrowed” a chicken from some neighbors we barely know and was chasing it around?  I will give you a hint, it wasn’t Starling!

That very same little scamp got sent up early to bed while the rest of us went next door for our picnic.  I hope he could hear everyone playing in the pool and regretted his behavior!  The Sullivans seemed upset that he wasn’t with us, but so be it!  He was naughty so no treats for him.  I had a great time with their dog!

After dinner the hubby and I frolicked in the Sullivans’ wheelbarrow.  What a great day for a picnic!
